Review – Bistro 1843 – Ile Bizard, Montreal Canada

Bistro 1843 is a wonderful French cuisine restaurant with a somewhat limited menu but the choices meet all consumer needs. Found in a old house dating back to 1843, walking in is like arriving into someone’s home. And that is how you are treated.

The chef is an expert at bringing flavors together in his exquisite sauces that enhance the meal and provides a cavalcade of flavors coursing across the palate.

Every meal provides a choice of chicken, beef, veal, pork and fish on the table d’hote menu which includes a flavorful soup or salad choice as a starter. Followed by the flavorful main courses and topped with a choice of homemade desserts.

This restaurant is by far the best restaurant I have been to in the Montreal area to date. The service is cordial and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The seating offers comfortable winged back chairs that make you want to stay and enjoy the feast that soon is presented.

The restaurant has 2 seating’s per evening except for Monday and Tuesday when they take a well deserved break and you must bring your own wine.

So, when you arrive in Montreal do not expect to make a reservation and get in right away. This restaurant is so popular it requires you call at least 2 months in advance to get seating. But try anyway as you never know if a cancellation comes through.

After the meal you want to sit back with a cognac and a cigar and enjoy the company you are with. But do bring your own cognac 🙂
